Trainers are having a great time catching Pokemon around the city. Recently, Pokemon Go was also released to Asian countries and Oceania and fans are freaking out catching Pokemon in their area. A lot of fans are asking what are the rare Pokemon that you might get in the game. Well, today we are going to list down the rarest of the rarest Pokemon that you can catch in the game. But we have to exclude the region exclusive Pokemon since this are only available in some specific regions.

10. Gyarados
So if you don’t know what Gyarados is, essentially he’s the evolved version of Magikarp. But what makes them so rare and hard to get is the fact that you need 400 Magikarp candy just to evolve him. Of course, you can find Gyarados evolved but still, you’re going to have to be a high level to capture him. Now you’ve gotta keep in mind that Pokemon varies for all parts of the world. So although you might have hundreds of Magikarp which you can catch, the majorities of people likely rarely see it.
9. Aerodactyl
Aerodactyl is a very odd Pokemon as it’s actually a fossil type. Aerodactyl was first seen in the original trailer and has rarely been caught in Pokemon Go so far. Once again, talking with Gyarados in some area of the world there maybe lots of them but the others rarely see it and that’s what exactly happen in this case. Aerodactyl cannot also be evolved which is surprising because in the actual Pokemon you could turn it into a Mega Aerodactyl which is a better version.
8. Snorlax
So there are no reports that users catch a bunch of Munchlax on Pokemon Go, you could still surely catch the sleeping beast we know as Snorlax. I personally never seen one before but I’ve heard that the majority of them that you catch actually have an extremely high CP. This one seems to be one of the more common rare that people have been catching but it’s still super rare to find one.
7. Dragonite
This Pokemon is either very rare or an uncommon appearance depending on where you live. I want to say that the same goes for Dratini or Dragonair as those are a less evolved version of Dragonite so consider them on the same spot on our list. Dragonite is of course a dragon type Pokemon but it’s super rare to catch an evolved one.
6. Articuno
A few days ago a trainer claimed that he catch an Articuno but after a day, Niantic took it back. You can’t catch Articuno in the game so far. This is one of the rarest of the rare in Pokemon Go and is the last that you can see in your Pokedex. Articuno is the mascot for team Mystic and is known as the freezer in Japan. It is one of the three legendary birds that represents for the three teams in Pokemon Go. Apparently, these legendary birds are available to catch later in the game at special events.
5. Zapdos
Once again, another legendary bird that represents as a mascot of team Instinct. Just like Articuno, it can’t evolve into anything and will likely be available on special events. Based on some article release, you could only see them when you finish your entire Pokedex but as of right now, I am not totally sure and that’s just a theory.
4. Moltres
The third and final legendary bird is Moltres and he’s the mascot of team Valor. Moltres is the firebird and hopefully one we’ll all be given a chance to catch this legendary bird.
3. Ditto
I don’t think that know one knows that Ditto is in Pokemon Go but he actually is. If you don’t know who Ditto is, essentially he’s a purple blob that can literally transform into any Pokemon. I don’t know if they’ll ever add breeding in Pokemon Go but if they do, Ditto can breed with any Pokemon and since it doesn’t have gender it makes him super rare and helpful. The only funny thing you’ll notice when Ditto transform is his face which does not change from its original form.
2. Mewtwo
Mewtwo appears on Pokemon Go trailer but you won’t find him in Pokemon Go just yet. I’m quite positive the only form were gonna be seeing in Pokemon Go is just a normal version. Mewtwo is part of the legendary duel between him and Mew and they’re pretty much the rarest and best Pokemon that you will ever see.
1. Mew
This is pretty obvious as Mew was the most powerful Pokemon in the entire Pokedex. There’s really not much to say that we haven’t said already is. Just like the majority of this list, it isn’t in the game yet. It’ll probably be at special events.
